What is the best online broker for a Roth IRA if I have a lump sum to open with but not $ to put in regularly?
I am going back to school soon and won’t have extra money to contribute for the next couple years, but would like to at least start the account so it can grow. Most info I’ve read says to compare annual fees and trading fees, and obviously I don’t want to pay an annual fee if I’m not putting new money in to offset it and also don’t think I’ll do a lot of trading right now.
If I buy no-load funds from Schwab online for my Roth IRA, do I have to pay anything on the back end?
I’m thinking of dumping my Edward Jones broker and going with a Schwab online no-load fund. I’d prefer to do the research myself and I think the amount of time my broker has ever spent on me is very minimal. Is it tough to transfer the money from my Roth IRA (managed by Ed Jones) to Schwab? Any other words of advice would be helpful.
Which online brokerage firm do you suggest for a Roth IRA?
I recently opened a roth ira with e trade, but have been reading a lot about a potential bankruptcy. I know my money would be insured because I am only investing $2,500, but I am weary of a company that might start to perform poorly. Do you have any suggestions for a firm that has low fees on their IRAs? Is it possible to transfer my roth ira to another online brokerage firm?…Thank you!
